This is a vintage all original 1954-62 machinist quartersawn white oak tool chest and stand Model 042 made by Gerstner & Sons out of Dayton, Ohio. The chest with the stand is 21 1/2" tall by 21 1/2" long by 10 1/4" in depth and everything weighs 38 lbs total: the chest alone is 16" tall and the stand is 5 1/2" tall alone.The stand has 1 drawer with 3 different compartments and a handle on both sides for carrying plus a working lock and 1 key. The chest has 11 drawers with green felt lining and galvanized metal bottoms.The top hinges are the ones that prevent the lid from flipping open.There is a diamond shaped mirror inside the lid and it has a leather handle on top for carrying.It has a working lock and 2 keys and also comes with a cover and a 4 1/2" by 2 1/2" Geretner & Sons card that list the different cover sizes and prices plus it notes cleaning suggestions. As I said in the beginning it is all original and the only real draw back is that it does need new felt lining since it along with everything else is all original. |
