Copper Horse Weathervane / Stand ~ Antique
This copper Horse weathervane with natural verdigris (patina) features a majestic horse galloping across a copper shaft that includes copper compass letters and spacer balls. This weathervane is currently mounted on a pedestal for an impressive display in your home or business, but can easily be removed and mounted atop of any roof, pinnacle or cupola.
The horse on pipe is 31” from the ends of the pipe and is 15” high from the bottom of the pipe mount to the top of the horse head. The weathervane is 25 ½” high from the bottom of the spacer ball to the top of the horse head. The compass points (N.S.E.W) are about 3 ½” high, with each set being 18” wide. The entire unit mounted on the stand is 44 ½” high.
This weathervane was reportedly acquired from the New England area in the 1920’s, it could be considerably older, but I cannot determine an actual date of manufacture. This weathervane has great patina (verdigris) and appears to be all original except for the mounting screws which were replaced at some time. The weathervane does have some minor dings and scratches, but it is in remarkably good condition overall.
